Dawson Morgan



Dawson Morgan is an American with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, USA with a specialty in hand built ceramics. She earned a Ford Fellowship for sculptural studies then directed Global Galleries in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her family eventually moved to Lausanne Switzerland where she rented studio space in Pully, Switzerland and exhibited her artwork on the shores of Lake Geneva. Dawson then continued her passion for ceramic form in her Chesterfield, Missouri studio, established in 2009. She takes great inspiration from her international experiences, working with European ceramic artists, natural textures, and the beauty of our varied landscape. Now life has brought her to Fairhope, AL where the Gulf of Mexico and surrounding coastal areas are providing new inspirations.

Currently you will see her work at the Eastern Shore Art Center and through Mobile Arts Council exhibitions. Dawson Morgan was a juried member in The Best of Missouri Hands (2010-2014). Through Art Saint Louis she was awarded regional participation in The exhibition XXVI, 2010, and Beholder 2011, Her most recent exhibitions include Quincy Art Center Biennial Quad, 4 state juried show, MC&Co, Brooklyn, NY, 2010-present, Sara Pottery, Manhattan, NY, Chesterfield Arts Gallery, Chesterfield, Missouri, a solo show, Illuminated Forms (2010) Art Trends Gallery, Chesterfield, Missouri, 2010, she was an exhibitor through Regional Arts Center’s Artropolis, 2010-14, Soulard Art Market Juried show Contemporary Clay 2010, Third Degree North Gallery, solo show 2011. Additional collections were displayed in Daniel Boone Public Library 2010, Sachs Public Library 2010, and in the Washington University School of Medicine, Farrell Learning and Teaching Center 2010. Dawson also painted freelance murals throughout the Southeast and Midwest, including Sherwin William’s show room in Ballwin, Missouri (1999) and Saint Monica Catholic Church, Creve Coeur, Missouri (2000). Prior notable ceramic exhibitions include Global Galleries New Orleans, Louisiana (1996) the Georgia State Fair Macon, Georgia (1990) State Street Gallery, Jackson, Mississippi (1991), Louis Art Gallery, Jackson, Mississippi (1991).
