DESCRIPTION:The Eastern Shore Art Center\, is exhibiting “Splash” in the Court Yard Gallery. This ceramic collection is inspired by different textures and forms of coastal life. Dawson Morgan\, brings attention to the stewardship of coastal Alabama through honoring the beauty of clean water in her sculpted ceramic forms. Meet the Artist will help kick off Artwalk May 4th 6-8pm and remain in the ESAC Courtyard Gallery\, 401 Oak Street Fairhope\, Al 36532 through May 2018. This show has been very successful as well as bringing attention to our responsibilities to sustain the beauty in our environment.

SUMMARY:ESAC Solo Exhibit in the Courtyard Gallery
DESCRIPTION:ESAC Solo Exhibit:  Splash\, a depiction of our waters to our shores \nOpening reception is in conjunction with Art Walk Friday April 6\, 6-8 \nThis collection of ceramic art work is simply inspired by life on the Gulf Coast.  Dawson Morgan grew up in Mobile\, Dog River specifically\, spending a lot of time on the water.  Life\, jobs\, and family have moved her around a great deal.  Dawson is now settled back to her roots and happy to be back to where her heart has always been.  She has a reverent love and respect for this water.  Some of the work will be stoneware\, finished in a matte white glaze representing the splash and fluid aspects of gulf waters.  Some of the works will flow like waves on a calm day\, others are intended to portray a more violent yet beautiful conflict such as a crashing wave\, or a bulkhead in a storm. Yet\, the raku work is more representational of driftwood\, bay murkiness\, piers\, and shore stumps. These 20-25 bowls and centerpieces will have a range from 5” to 24”.  My work in general is hand built with a dramatic display of light and shadow within the piece.  Often the shadows are more important to me than the piece itself.  There is a wall installation depicting flow and movement which is available depending on space and time.
